Emigrate to Romania. Like Andrew Tate?

24 March 2025 17541 10

For a short time, Andrew Tate was the most googled person in the entire world. Andrew Tate lives with his brother Tristan Tate in Bucharest, Romania. But why is that? What is the real reason behind it?

The Tate brothers come from a town called Luton in Great Britain. But how did they decide to choose Romania as their main residence?

Emigrating and starting a new life in another country. Anyone who has this thought primarily thinks of countries or cities like Dubai, Italy or Spain.

Emigrating from Germany

Romania, in particular, stands out as an emerging country that seamlessly blends the vibrant energy of its big cities with the picturesque charm of its idyllic natural landscapes.

That's exactly how Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan ended up in the capital Bucharest many years ago. They have settled here and wish to stay! What many might not expect—but is indeed true—is the high level of security in the country.

But what makes Romania so attractive for emigration? TOP 3 reasons:

What does Romania do for emigration

1. The lowest taxes in the entire EU

Let's start with number 1 in the ranking. This is also one of the reasons why the Tates have become so exceptionally wealthy. They paid only a fraction of the taxes for their rapid rise and increase in wealth - compared to everyone else in the western countries.

This may come as a surprise to some, but the tax rates for self-employed people and entrepreneurs are the lowest in the entire European Union. With a 1% tax on annual turnover when setting up a company, Romania can even keep up with offshore destinations such as Dubai.

For some, it comes…

Entrepreneurs and self-employed people can find exceptionally low tax rates in Romania. If you employ at least one Romanian employee and generate less than €500,000 in sales, you only pay 3% tax, and if your sales are €60,000 or less, you only pay 1%.

The Tate brothers are likely to have an annual turnover of well over 500,000 euros. But how did they manage it? With a sole proprietorship in Romania and only paying 10%? The Romanian PFA or sole proprietorship has now become so unattractive in terms of tax that you end up paying 30-40% tax.

All income above 500k annual turnover is taxed at a rate of 16% on the profit in Romania?

That could be the case, but there is another approach: This allows you to pay an average tax rate of 10% if you are resident in Romania. Completely legal, in compliance with the tax authorities and with no limit on annual turnover.

In addition to the Romanian SRL, another company is required - as well as very good tax advisors on hand to coordinate this with the authorities.

2. Loyal employees with affordable wages

The sense of unity, in the country is very, very high, well over 95%. The population generally seeks harmony, treating one another as equals and maintaining positive neighborly relations. This mindset extends to the workplace, where disputes are less likely, and employment relationships are not typically strained over severance agreements.

Loyal employees with affordable wages

Therefore, if permanent employees are treated well, paid on time and, if necessary, given bonuses, you as an employer often get double or triple the benefit. Romanian employers are often dictatorial and do not take social benefits very seriously, which is why employees are very grateful for jobs in Western companies.

A real opportunity – especially in the IT sector!

3. Safety and low crime

Security in Romania is extremely high compared to other countries worldwide. This also includes the capital Bucharest.

Security and low crime

Statistically speaking, the probability of unforeseeable violence is 0. If you behave respectfully towards the Romanian population, the willingness to commit crime is almost non-existent.

There is only a very small number of immigrants, i.e. people who are not originally from Romania. According to statistics, 99.7% of the population are ethnic Romanians.

Almost all Romanians have the same attitude of sticking together, have the same beliefs and, at first glance, do not wish any harm to others. It is therefore not surprising that women can walk through the city at 3 a.m. completely safe and carefree. It is hard to believe, but this is not a fairy tale, I have personally experienced this countless times when going out in Romania.

If you are now at the point where you really want to change something with your company in terms of high tax burdens or even have an alternative before starting the company to only pay a fraction of the taxes then listen more carefully now.

Didn't we talk about an alternative at the beginning – with an alleged tax burden of only 1%? Absolutely right. Congratulations on making it to this part of the article.

For all entrepreneurs and self-employed people who are looking for a way to save taxes, we at GO EU offer a solution that is fully recognized by the Trade Register office and does not require any change of residence. This is our 1% tax model!

With the 1% tax model you only pay 1-3% taxes up to 250,000 euros annual turnover and if your turnover is up to €60,000 per year, you are even exempt from VAT.

1% Tax Method

And all of this within the EU, without dubious grey areas, shady offshore structures or having to relocate your place of residence. This model is fully recognized by your local tax office, and you can even have this recognition confirmed in advance!

A thriving economy in Romania offers numerous career opportunities for young people and workers. There is significant growth, especially in the technology and IT sectors. But I don't know if I want to live there!

First you would have to really ask yourself if you want to risk something like that. But now I can only tell you something about Romania: There are beautiful places in Romania, but also places that are not necessarily so clean. The streets can occasionally have potholes, but not in most cities. There are also very rich people in this country, but of course there are also beggars who you should just ignore because they might run after you, believe me. The country itself is actually not that poor. I find vegetables there more delicious and tasty (if they really come from Romania).

I have been living in Cluj for 3 years and was called here by my employer. The standards here are almost western. If Romanian, then Cluj, Sibiu or Bucharest. So if I ever wanted to start a company, could you help me?

Andrew Tate has chosen a cool country. Low taxes and brutally beautiful women. I think he and his brother have really cleaned up there.

I often see the Tate's driving around Bucharest in their supercars! With German license plates. Who knows why?

In Romania, larger engines are taxed and insured at significantly higher rates than in Germany.

Not a fan of the guy, but I get why people choose Romania. It’s affordable, less strict and just makes sense for some.
